Super Science Centers
Super science centers in KIDLAB is a fun way for students to explore one topic in a variety of different ways. Students start off on the carpet where the big idea of the day is introduced and the centers explained. Students then pick a center out of a cup (eyes closed!) and head to the tables. The timer is set for 5 minutes and the kids get to explore. Sometimes I float from center to center to see student progress but other times I lead a center and students work independently. When the timer goes off, students switch to the next center. After all of the rotations are complete, students choose their favorite center and return there for the rest of the class.

Big Idea Centers
*biology fish tank and snails, model animals, arthropod specimens, planting
*physical science marble ramps, magnets, mixing liquids, slime/play dough
*engineering marble ramps, K'nex, LEGOs, blocks, trains
*written observations aquarium, plants, swinging pendulum, slime
*water water table, boats, measuring, float and sink, tubes and waterwheels
