Is it getting hot in here?
Using the information we learned when studying the three states of matter, we were able to create model thermometers. Our thermometers couldn't measure they exact temperature but they did react the same way a real thermometer would. When placed in something hot, the liquid level in the straw would rise but when placed ins something cold, the liquid level would fall. This happened because of the spreading and smushing of the water molecules in our bottle.
